Unwanted Vegetation

All too often pond and lake banks become overgrown with unwanted vegetation.

Recently, the VADEQ has increased their frequency of on site inspections of permitted storm water BMPs. Many of these inspections are resulting in NOVs or Compliance Notices with the possibility of a fine. Property owners are being requested to provide documentation that proper maintenance and inspections are being performed.

In most cases these notices are citing the overgrowth of vegetation surrounding the storm water pond because it is not allowing Inspectors access to outlet structures. Stormwater Pond Management can remove the vegetation from the property and meet with the Inspectors prior to completion to ensure the work has been done to the Municipalities specifications.
